Canon EOS 100D White announced, complete with matching white kit lens
Canon has launched a white edition of its smallest digital SLR camera. The white EOS 100D will arrive alongside a white version of Canon's EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 kit lens, for anyone that likes the camera equipment to have a matching colour scheme.

Apart from the matt white finish, the white EOS 100D is otherwise identical to the original - meaning it's still the world's smallest and lightest APS-C digital SLR camera, measuring 116x90x69mm and weighing just 407g for the body only. It has an 18-megapixel APS-C Hybrid CMOS sensor with 9 auto focus points, paired with canon's DIGIC 5 image processor, which is capable of shooting ISO 100 - 12,800 (expandable to 25,600) at up to four frames per second.
Designed for amateur and hobbyist photographers looking to step up from a compact camera or entry-level digital SLR, the EOS 100D includes plenty of features for anyone still getting to grips with manual shooting. As well as an intelligent auto scene selection mode, there's also a selection of creative filters. The simple control dials and integrated feature guide should help when it comes to mastering the basics.
There's an 3in LCD touchscreen on the rear for composing your shots, as well as an optical viewfinder which covers 95% of the frame at 0.87x magnification. Unfortunately the LCD display is fixed, rather than fitted to a tilt-able hinge; for more flexibility you'll have to step up to the more expensive EOS 700D .
The bundled white kit lens is again identical to the original black version. It uses a stepping motor, hence the STM suffix, which means zoom and focus is quiet enough to shoot Full HD video without hearing the camera in your captured footage.
The EOS 100D White is set to go on sale here in the UK from May onwards, with an RRP of £499 for both camera body and matching kit lens.
