MP3 and USB Flash Drivers Not Recognised on Windows
If you're having trouble with your USB or MP3 flash drive, there are a few things that you can try out to find and fix the problem. Make sure that your PC is equipped with USB 2.0 ports (High Speed USB), otherwise, the device will work but at a lower speed including for file transfers. Follow the tips below for more help.
Solution For When USB Flash Driver Not Recognised
1. In the Control Panel/System/Hardware, select View devices by connection
by connection 2. Then select the little logo showing Hi-Speed USB mass storage device (or any other name related to the word USB)
3. A drawing of a small hard drive will be displayed.
4. Click on it.
5. Windows will inform you that its searching and updating the driver previously installed with the CD provided with the USB device! If you lose the CD, it is possible to download the driver on the manufactures site. At last resort, you can try a generic driver.
6. If this does not work, do the same with other USB port (usually 2 USB ports per PC).
7. Windows should then finally recognise the USB device or mp3 player.
Note that: it is imperative to install the driver before plugging the device in for the first time. In the event that you did not install the driver first, go to device properties and uninstall the device, uninstall the driver, then reinstall everything.
