Save £240 on Microsoft’s Surface Laptop 3
During 2018’s Black Friday festivities, I got myself a great deal on the Surface Laptop 2. It’s a great machine and still going strong today, which is just as well as otherwise I might be tempted by this offer on the Surface Laptop 3 that Amazon is doing for its annual Prime Day celebrations. Right now, and for one day only, you can buy the entry-level Surface Laptop 3 with an Intel Core i5 processor, 8GB RAM and 128GB of storage for £759 – that’s a £240 saving on its £999 list price. For that price, you’re getting a laptop that’s both portable and a pleasure to use for web browsing, work and general productivity. The basics, I understand, haven't changed much from the version I’m still using to this day, and that means it offers a great typing experience and the best trackpad I’ve personally used outside of a MacBook. It’s worth noting that this isn’t the most recent version of Microsoft’s excellent line of laptops, though. Earlier this year, the company released the Surface Laptop 4 with 11th generation Intel i5 and i7 processors. No doubt that will be a better laptop overall, but it also isn’t reduced at the moment, and likely won’t be for some time given it’s only been out for a few months. “No two ways about it, the Surface Laptop 3 is an exceptionally good laptop,” wrote reviews editor Jon Bray in our review. “It's very light, slim and good looking, with performance across the board that’s a match for the best in the business.” The drawbacks, such as they are, came down to a lack of ports, and the fact that the single USB-C port isn’t Thunderbolt 3 equipped. But when it’s £240, you can probably forgive little issues like these. Buy now from Amazon
